Turn off Electrical Power
Power should be turned off at the Circuit Breaker before unplugging or moving electrical devices. Electric shock becomes a major risk whenever water and flooding are present near electrical outlets and devices
Take Immediate action to prevent mold
When water damage occurs, you must act quickly to begin the clean up and drying process in order to prevent mold. Mold can begin to form within 48-72 hours, so standing water and moisture must be removed as quickly as possible to avoid additional problems.

Protect furniture from wet flooring
If your carpet has standing moisture, you need to take steps to prevent that moisture from seeping into your furniture. Place aluminum foil or small blocks of wood between wet carpet and the legs of your furniture
Avoid carpet stains from furniture
Remove items from the affected area that can cause the carpet to become stained due to moisture saturation. This includes, furniture, books, magazines, rugs, clothing, and any item that has the potential to bleed colors when wet.
Make a Thorough Inventory List
Make a thorough inventory of all items in the home that will need to be replaced and document with pictures
Special Drying Procedures are required
